My name is Jiawei Xu (许家伟 in Chinese). I am a third-year Ph.D. student in Information Studies at the UT Austin School of Information, working in the AI Health Lab.

With Professor Ying Ding, I design and study LLM-based agents across grounded reasoning, healthcare, and scientific discovery — with a technical focus on agent workflow orchestration and memory organization. One question runs through all of it: how can humans and AI collaborate to advance science and well-being? It grew out of a different one I explored earlier with Dr. Yi Bu at Peking University — how human scientists collaborate with each other — studied through citation networks, interdisciplinarity, and knowledge diffusion at scale.

I am actively seeking Applied Scientist / Research Scientist internship opportunities for Summer 2026. Feel free to reach out! For more details, please check my CV.
